This is my final business card, sending to get printed soon! I decided to change the typeface from my previous design. Although I really can’t get enough of Lavenderia, it’s definitely more feminine, and I want my work to appeal to both men and women. So I finally went with Haymaker, and chose and emerald green for the accents in the design.

This is small blurb (Artist Biography) which is featured in the What To Do Whistler? Winter 2012 Brochure. The point of the article was to showcase a local artist working in the Whistler valley.
Borgi Rayen is an independent jewelry designer. All of her pieces are hand made in her small home studio. The creates unique pieces using semi precious stones, freshwater pearls, swarovsky crystals, and sterling silver.
I kept the ad light and happy. The colour in the banner is repetitive of the photograph at the bottom. The typeface is also very easy to read, and comforting.

A client approached me needing a new logo, and an ad for a local Activity Brochure called What To Do Whistler? The client’s business is a small catering company, based out of Whistler, BC, called Whistlers Personal Chef. Generally, it’s clientele is mostly families with holiday homes in Whistler, as well as several locals who host small parties with family and friends.
The concept behind the business is that the head chef, Borgi Rayen, does all the work. What is unique about her catering business is that clients do not have to choose of a set menu, like most catering companies. You simply choose what it is you would like to have cooked, and Borgi Rayen does all the grocery shopping, cooking, serving, and cooking. This way even the party host gets to enjoy the occassion.
I decided to go with a very organic, rounded and happy typeface. This represents the company well, since Borgi Rayen believes in using only the purest and highest quality of ingredients. Everything is prepared from scratch, and many recipes are of her own. The actual logo is a fork and knife silhouette, displayed in front of the outline of Whistler and Blackcomb mountains. This works well into the brand as well since it is based out Whistler, BC. I kept the colours neutral, and used orange because I feel it’s reminiscent of food and cooking.
As for the ad itself, I kept it extremely simple, and to the point. I wanted it to be easy to look at, and get the concept of the business across in one easy sentence. The photo used has great colours in it, and is a great representation of Borgi’s cooking.

This is a collage I made for my best bud Jessy. I chose some photos from the past few years, and some of my favourite quotes from music. I kept the colour scheme organic and fresh. I wanted the general feel to the collage to be fun, free, and nostalgic to summertime.

This is my book cover redesign for the classic collection: The Complete Grimm’s Fairytales. This collection of stories is nearly 200 years old, and is famous amongst creative writers and artists alike. I wanted my design to appeal to people who appreciate fun, fresh, and dynamic design. My goal was to take the book, and completely revive it with a modern and clean cover design. I chose to take different elements and motifs from  a number of different stories in the book, and stack them. My colour palette is based on the dark content of the stories. I kept the overall design balanced by leaving negative space, and also played with the hierarchy of the words in the title to add emphasis on the word “Grimm’s”.

The whole design of this poster came very naturally thanks to the two amazing fonts: Lobster 1.4 and Vintage. I love packaging design from the 1950’s and 1960’s, which I looked for inspiration into. I love the mustard yellow, burgundy and powder blue together. This event is gonna be hella fun for a you Whistler and Pembi folk, definitely check it out! Skate, beer, friends, and good food. A great way to farewell the summer.

About:

Hey pals. My name is Chanti, and I am an aspiring graphic designer. I love playing with bold colours, and absolutely LOVE typography. I am obsessed with Swiss graphic design and vintage design from the 60's. I believe in simplicity when it comes to design. Design should be engaging, and considerate of it's audience. Design is a means of gathering information, and arranging elements in such a way to accomplish a particular purpose. As a society we are affected by design every day.
One day, when I'm tired of having fun, travelling, and being free, I'm going to go back to school and finish my degree. But until then I'll just be kicking it in Whistler, playing around on Illustrator, getting inspired, and hopefully travelling to exotic places in between. Hope you like what you see. Give me some feedback if you feel like it! Peace&Love
